Today’s post will look at the Ventura County real estate market in May 2017. May saw more houses sold and for higher prices than we saw in April. Days on Market (DOM) decreased slightly, coming in at 53. Prices were up 2.4% from April and a whopping 9.5% from May 2016. Looking back at the data, the prices in May 2016 were unusually lower than the rest of the year, so we don’t expect this high year-over-year increase to carry out for the rest of the year. Nevertheless, inventory remains low, so there are no obvious signs of a market slow-down anytime soon that we can see.
For purposes of this and future blog posts, Ventura County statistics are based off of the following ten cities in Ventura County: Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Simi Valley, Santa Paula, Thousand Oaks, and Ventura. This data is pulled directly from the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) and may not contain information on properties that were sold off market. Number of homes sold does not include residential income, lots and lands, or commercial.
