If you’ve lived in Ventura County for any length of time, you are probably familiar with the Ventura County Star. Since 1925, the Ventura County Star has been one of the top sources of news and information for Ventura County residents. Although the Ventura County Star is mostly known for the newspapers that you see on newsstands and in grocery stores, they also have a pretty robust website that subscribers can go to if they want to find up-to-date information. In this post, we will provide some details on subscribing to the newspaper as well as information about what can be found on their website. Since a website is able to contain more information than a hard copy newspaper, we will focus this post more on the website than the newspaper.
Ventura County Star Subscriptions
VCStar.com can be accessed by anyone with internet access, although non-subscribers are limited in the amount of articles they are able to view. In order to get unlimited access from any device connected to the internet, you must pay for one of their subscriptions. Unlimited Access to the Ventura County Star from your computer, smartphone, or tablet.

Home delivery of the Ventura County Star on Sunday as well as full digital access.

The homepage is kind of like a brief summary of what can be found throughout the website. As you scroll down the page, you will also see a story or two from some of the other pages on the website. The homepage can be used as a quick glimpse of what is going on around Ventura County. If you are more interested in a specific topic, you can click on one of the pages located in the top menu bar.
The news page is where you can find headlines to some of the major stories happening in the county. Here you can read what has happened in the past 24 hours that may be of interest to Ventura County residents. The news page is further broken down into subpages with more detailed topics. The following subpages can be found in the submenu.
• LOCAL NEWS
• STATE NEWS
• NATIONAL NEWS
• WORLD NEWS
• PRICE OF PARADISE
• VCS OUTDOORS
• NEWS COLUMNISTS
The sports page is one of the most popular pages of any newspaper. On this page you will find top sports stories from throughout the county. If you are only interested in a particular sport, you can also find the following subpages
• LOCAL COLLEGE SPORTS
• YOUTH SPORTS
• SPORTS COLUMNISTS
• NATIONAL SPORTS
• COLLEGE BASKETBALL
• COLLEGE FOOTBALL
The business page is another popular page that is found in most newspapers. Clicking on the business page will send you to where the top business stories can be found. If you’re more interested in what’s going on in the business world locally, you will find a local business subpage as well as a business directory.
• LOCAL BUSINESS
• BUSINESS COLUMNISTS
• COMPANY NEWS
• NATIONAL BUSINESS
• BUSINESS DIRECTORY
The opinion pages is one of my favorite pages that the Ventura County Star has to offer. I find it interesting to read what some contributors think about certain topics. Readers should be mindful that these are only opinions and they should not get too upset or agitated about what they may find. Subpages of the opinion page include:
• LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
• OPINION COLUMNISTS
The entertainment page is great to find information on all sorts of things in the world of entertainment. On this page you will find a nice mix of local and national entertainment news. If you are looking for something to do in Ventura County, the entertainment section also includes a nice calendar of event. Below are all of the subpages that you will find on the entertainment page.
• ARTS AND THEATER
• EVENTS CALENDAR
• ENTERTAINMENT COLUMNISTS
The Ventura County Star Blogs page features four different blogs that are written for the Ventura County Star. Of course, if you are looking for real estate information, don’t forget about the Dream Home Property Solutions, LLC Blog. Below are the four blogs that can be found on the Blogs page.

I must admit that the lifestyle page is not one that I look at on a regular basis, but it does contain some good material that may be of interest to Ventura County residents. The lifestyle homepage will show you the top lifestyle stories, but it also contains the following subpages.
• FOOD AND WINE
• LIFESTYLE COLUMNISTS
• RELIGION AND ETHICS
On the top of the jobs page you will find a search tool that is powered by Monster . Using this tool, you can search for jobs located anywhere in the country. Below the search tool you wind find jobs ads for local companies in the area. The job page also lets job seekers upload their resumes and employers to post job ads.
The homes page is where you can find a brief summary of each city in Ventura County as well as some statistics of each city. There is also a tool that allows you to search home listings throughout California. Although it seems to be a little bit more powerful than I would have expected, if you are truly looking to use a website to search for homes, you might be better served with one of the more popular ones like Redfin or Zillow.
The cars page has a search function for cars for sale, a search function to find a dealer near you, and a list of featured dealers from throughout the county. The sidebar also contains some news articles about particular makes and models.
The classifieds page is a digital version of the classified section in a standard newspaper. What’s cool about the digital version is that you can filter your search by category, date, distance from your location, and several other options. Some of the ads even contain videos that you can view.
The final page of the Ventura County Star that we will discuss is the weekly ads. Clicking on this page will bring you to a page showing their featured ad from a company located in Ventura County. Think of this page as one central location where you can find all of the ads that you would normally get in a hard copy newspaper. You can pick which category you would like to see different ads from and browse through them just like you if you had a copy in front of you.
