Ventura County Events in September 2016

ALOHA BEACH FESTIVAL

The 12th annual Aloha Beach Festival is coming to Ventura on September 3rd and 4th.  Located at Promenade Park in Ventura, the Beach Festival will feature a surf contest and a stage with live music.  The festival will run from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM on Saturday, September 3rd and then 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM on Sunday, September 4th.  Please note that the Aloha Beach Festival will not be open on Labor Day Monday.  There will be parking available at the beach for $2 for the whole day. Parking is limited, so visitors are encouraged to carpool or ride bikes to the event.  The lineup for the Aloha Stage is as follows.

VENTURA MARATHON

The Ventura Marathon will be happening Saturday and Sunday, September 10th and 11th.  Saturday will feature bike rides and a kids run while Sunday will feature the 5K, half marathon, and full marathon. The full marathon will be a qualifying event for the Boston Marathon. Details for each individual race are listed below and anyone interested in running can sign up here.

Saturday Line-Up:

100 Mile Bike Ride: Sept 10th starting between 6:30 AM

62 Mile Bike Ride: Sept 10th starting between 7:00 AM

30 Mile Bike Ride: Sept 10th starting between 7:30 AM

5K Adventure Race: Sept 10th at 9:30 AM

Kids Sand Run: Sept 10th at 11:00 AM

K9 Shuffle Walk: Sept 10th at 5:00 PM

Sunday Line-Up:

Full Marathon: Sept 11th at 6:00 AM

Half Marathon: Sept 11th at 6:30 AM

5K: Sept 11th at 6:45 AM

VENTURA BEACH PARTY

In conjunction with the Ventura Marathon, there will also be a beach party. Located at the beach on the Ventura Promenade, just north of the Ventura Pier, the Ventura Beach Party will offer two days of music, food, and fun. Activities include beach games, a beer garden, free activities for kids, local bands playing live music, and local food and art vendors. The beach party runs from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM on Saturday, Sept. 10th and from 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM on Sunday, Sept. 11th. This event is made possible by Vendurance and Paint Ventura.  The following is the performance schedule for both days:

Ventura County Coastal Cleanup Day

“Lend a Hand or Eight” will be sponsoring the 32nd annual California Coastal Cleanup Day in Ventura on Saturday, Sept. 17th.  Estimated to draw a crowd of over 60,000 people, volunteers can choose from one of approximately 20 sites in Ventura to help remove debris from the county’s beaches. In order to participate, you must print and sign a waiver and bring it to the cleanup site of your choosing. Waiver forms will also be available on site, but you should print your own to be on the safe side. Be sure to be at your cleanup site by 9:00 AM on the 17th and bring your whole family for a day of helping out our local community.

FAIRY TALES IN THE PARK

Every May through September, Gypsies in a Trunk performs free fairy tales at various locations throughout Ventura County. Their goal is to bring free entertainment to children and their families and hopefully to help grow love and appreciation for live theater. Performances are always held outdoors and there may not always be shade available, so attendees are encouraged to plan accordingly. Shows run approximately 45 minutes longs and pets are requested to be left at home. This weekend will feature the group performing “The Boy Wizard in the Land of Oz” at the following locations:

Westlake Village: Foxfield Park at 11:30 AM on Sept 3rd

Simi Valley: Rancho Simi Community Park Amphitheatre at 4:00 PM on Sept 3rd

Channel Islands Harbor: Harbor View Park at 2:00 pm on Sept 4th

Camarillo: Valle Lindo Park at 11:30 AM on Sept 10th

Ventura: Barranca Vista Park at 4:00 PM on Sept 10th

The Dinner Detective

Each weekend in September, The Dinner Detective will be happening at The Gardens at Los Robles Greens in Thousand Oaks. The Dinner Detective is a murder mystery show that will be sure to keep everyone entertained. Performing since 2004, The Dinner Detective holds shows in various cities throughout multiples states. California Beer Festival

The California Beer Festival returns to Ventura on the weekend of September 16th – 18th. Featuring over 140 beers, great food, and live music, the California Beer Festival is a great way to wind down your summer. Ticket prices vary by the day of the event and you can also purchase VIP and specialty tickets. The schedule for the weekend is as follows:

Friday, September 16th: Food and Beer Pairing Competition from 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Saturday, September 17th: Craft Beer Heaven from 12:30 PM – 5:00 PM (VIP session begins at 11:30 AM)

Sunday, September 18th: Boots and Brews from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM

  1. Great information!!! You know, we have such a great mix here in Ventura County, small beach town feel, but with all the conveniences of the city. Really emphasizing our strategic location between vineyards of Central Coast and easy access to Los Angeles.
