Well, summer has officially ended and fall is now upon us, although you wouldn’t be able to tell by the weather we have been having. We hope that each and every one of you had an enjoyable summer. But just because summer has ended does not mean that you and your family cannot still find activities to keep yourselves entertained. While there may not be as much going on around the county as there was the last couple months, below are a few upcoming events that you may find interesting. And although it is not happening in Ventura County, another event that must be mentioned is my sister Brandi’s birthday on October 3rd.
Pier Under the Stars
On Saturday, October 3rd from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Pier into the Future will be hosting Pier Under the Stars. Happening at the Beachfront Promenade near the Ventra Pier, this event will feature wine, beer, and food to benefit the Ventura Pier. Along with the food and drinks, the event will also feature the band Caliente and a silent auction. General tickets are $75 and include food, wine, and beverage tastings along with a commemorative Pier wine glass. VIP tickets are $125 and include early entrance to the event at 4:30 PM, a seat at a reserved VIP table, wine and hors d’oeuvres, a commemorative pier wine glass, along with food, wine, and beverage tastings.
Seaside Highland Games
The Seaside Highland Games are coming to Ventura County October 9th – 11th. The Highland Games are a Scottish tradition that date back hundreds of years ago and are now held all over the world. The Ventura County games will be held at Seaside Park in Ventura. The Games kick off with whisky tasting and a Scottish Evening on Friday Night. The whisky tasting will be at the Four Points Sheraton hotel starting at 5:00 PM, with ticket prices of $30. The Scottish evening consists of a dinner buffet, entertainment, and a fashion show which all start at 6:30 PM for $35. The Games themselves will be on both Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM t0 5:00 PM. Events that you will find at the Games include Highland dancing, throwing contests, pipe bands, a fiddling competition, Scottish entertainers, clan tents, a children’s glen, a dart competition, and various food and drinks. Lexus LaceUP Running Series
On Saturday, October 24th, the Lexus LaceUp Running Series will be coming to Ventura. Happening at Surfers Point Park, the LaceUp Running Series is one of the four Southern California locations, which also include Riverside, Palos Verdes, and Irvine. Along with the races themselves, the event will also feature food trucks, live music, and a Sierra Nevada beer toast. The Half marathon ($85) and 10K ($60) start at 7:00 AM while the 5K ($40) starts at 7:45 AM.
Haunted Dinner, Magic, and Ghost Tour at Bard Mansion
The Herman Bennet Foundation will be presenting a Haunted Dinner, Magic and Ghost Tour at the Bard Mansion inside the Port Hueneme Navy Base on Friday, October 30th. There will be a formal dinner featuring either prime rib, parmesan chicken, or vegetable lasagna Milano. The magic show will be performed by Master Castle Magician, Ron Saylor. There will also be a self-guided tour of the Bard Mansion through four floors of darkness. There are only a limited number of tickets that are selling for $135 each (tax deductible). Proceeds go towards helping the spay and neuter programs in Ventura and LA counties, so come on out and have some fun while supporting your local community.
