Ventura County Events in April 2016

With the weather warming up, it’s time to take the family and enjoy some of the events that Ventura County has to offer. Below is a sneak peak of some of the major highlights coming up in the month of April.

First Fridays Ventura

Friday, April 1, 2016
Come out and enjoy the springtime evening by spending it walking the downtown streets viewing fine arts and partaking in the demonstrations and performances put on by artists. Buenaventura Golf Course Tournament, Celebrating 85 Years of Golf

Golfers are encouraged to dress in their 1930s golf get-ups during this golf tournament celebrating 85 years of golf here in Ventura. The entry fee is $85 and includes the golfers green fee, cart fee, lunch, contests, awards, prizes, drink tickets, appetizers, etc. Tournament starts at 1:00pm. The Ventura Unified School District Art Show

Looking for some evening fun for the whole family? Ventura Unified School District is hosting an art show filled with elementary, middle and high schooler’s pieces. While you’re enjoying the talented work of these young students, grab a bite from the food trucks on site and listen to the live music. This show will continue into Saturday (admission charged this day only) and Sunday, so get the family together to help celebrate Ventura’s 150th birthday.

City of Ventura’s 150th Celebration

You enjoy living in the beautiful city of Ventura, right? Then come celebrate with other Ventura residents with the family fair and picnic at Plaza Park. This event is free! There will be carnival rides, contests, treasure hunts, races, activity booths, live music and so much more. Later that evening, stick around for the Big Bad VooDoo Daddy Concert from 6:30-8:00 pm. City of Oxnard Environmental Resources presents: Earth Day 2016

Celebrate our beautiful Earth at Downtown Plaza Park with live music, children’s activities, community displays, food and fun! From 11:00 am-3:00 pm and with free admission, this is a great event for the entire family. Bring a blanket and hang out on the grass under the amazing springtime sunshine. Champagne on Main, a Spring Wine Walk & Street Fair

With live entertainment until 6:00 pm and free admission, this is sure to be a great day! The Spring Street Fair starts at 11:00 am with local shops, vendors and non-profits showing you what they’re all about. While you’re doing a little bit of shopping, get ready for the Champagne on Main/Wine Walk that begins at 3:00 pm. This event will showcase champagne, craft spirits, sparkling wine and craft beer samplings available to those who purchase tickets either online, at the Ventura Visitors & Convention Bureau or Sam’s Saticoy Liquor & Delivery Service. If you’re ready for a VIP afternoon, check out the VIP Chocolate Lounge’s exclusive area with desserts, chocolate and more tastings while you enjoy the live music. Ventura Eco Xtreme Mud Challenge

Come support the Dee Dowell Foundation with a fun 5K Mud Challenge. Build a group or tackle this one solo, but either way come down for a great experience and wonderful cause. There is even a Kid’s 1K Mud Challenge that begins at 9:30 am while the 5K Mud Challenge starts at 10:30 am. This is an obstacle course that is sure to leave you satisfied (and dirty)!

Ventura’s EarthDay EcoFest

This award-winning event is sure to please the entire family. Taking place at Ventura beachfront Seaside/Promenade Park and Surfer’s Point Boardwalk, this event will be full of sunshine, scavenger hunts, family activities, raffles and so much more! Camarillo Old Town Sunday Cruise

On the fourth Sunday of each month, classic car enthusiasts gather together with classic cars, food and live music. Old Town Camarillo has much more to offer with many shops and restaurants around so make a day out of exploring and enjoying the weather, sights and sounds. 2016 Ventura/Tri-County National College Fair

The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) National College Fairs will be in town for all parents and students seeking more information about colleges. Held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds from 5:30-8:30 pm, this event is free and is open to everyone. Attendees will be given information regarding admission requirements, financial aid, what to expect on campus and most importantly, how to navigate the college-selection process.

Camarillo Ranch #TBT Food Truck Festival

This is a monthly event so look forward to it often! This event features food trucks and a family movie in the barn at 6:00 pm. Bring the whole family and blankets to bundle up in, as this will be a night to make into a tradition. With a cash bar, food trucks and live music…you can’t go wrong! This evening event is free to enjoy and goes from 5:00 -9:00 pm at the Camarillo Ranch. Make sure to check out their flyer with future dates.
